1996 | Oldenburg NA (Premium) | Amiro / Wandersmann xx / Trapper
Alexis is a Premium Oldenburg mare who scored 9’s at her Mare Performance Test. She is 16.3hh and a beautiful black/dark bay with three socks and an interesting blaze. Alexis is a very kind, forgiving mother who’s laid back temperament and unflappable attitude is passed onto her foals.
Alexis’ sire is the Dutch Warmblood stallion, Amiro by Ramiro Z. Imported from Holland, Amiro was USDF Champion at 4th level, and BC Advanced Level Reserve Champion in 1990. In 1991 he was Reserve Champion at Spruce Meadows and qualified for the Pan American Games Canadian Team, qualifying with every test he performed in 1991. He was long-listed for the Canadian Dressage Team and was rated among the top 10 advanced dressage horses in Canada.
In 1995 Amiro was presented to the Oldenburg NA and was the winner of that approval, based on his performance in dressage. All of his presented foals went premium. Amiro was well known and loved for his friendly, willing temperament. He stamped his get with his fabulous attitude and his fluid, powerful, correct movement.
Amiro’s sire – Ramiro Z – was, over a period of thirty years, the “Preferent” G Ramiro Z’s performance as a sporthorse and breeding sire has clearly earned him the well deserved titles ‘Stallion of the Century’ and “King of Sires.” Bred in Holstein, born in Westfalia, licensed at Neumünster, Ramiro Z was an international performer under Fritz Ligges, a stallion that has had a far reaching influence on the greatest acheiving sports horses of today. Ramiro was one of the first Holstein stallions to actually appear in competition unlike many others of that era. During his own sporting career he had numerous wins at all levels of show jumping including Nations Cups, Puissance (jumping over 2.2 metre) and in international Grand Prix competition.
His progeny can be described with one word: sublime. He supplied a large number of stallions approved in the Netherlands and abroad as well as an impressive series of fantastic sport horses many of whom have achieved fame. His daughter, the super-mare Ratina Z, is the dream of the show jumping world, winning double Olympic gold medals (1992 and 1996) at the Barcelona Olympics, and the World Cup of 1993. Ramiro’s progeny distinguish themselves in dressage as well. Ramiro’s influence on the Dutch Warmblood breeding was, and still is, of utmost importance. The Dutch bestowed the title ‘Horse of the Year’ on Ramiro in 1992.
